高考英語閱讀理解猜測猜詞方法大全（18種）

大家知道，我們在進行英語閱讀時遇到生詞是難免的事。若是平時的閱讀，遇到生詞可以查詞典，但若是參加考試，那就沒辦法去查詞典了。因此，我們在平時的閱讀中有意識地培養自己的猜測生詞詞義的能力就顯得十分必要了。下面為大家歸納18種簡單實用的推測生詞詞的方法，供同學們參考。

1. 根據因果關系

表示因果關系的有because, so that, so…that, such…that等。如：

You shouldn’t reproach him for that, for it wasn’t his fault.

【分析】根據句中的 for it wasn’t his fault(那不是他的錯)，可推知reproach的意思應是“責備”。

2. 根據轉折關系

表示轉折關系的有though, but, however等，但有時也可用破折號或分號來表示轉折的意義。如：

A child’s birthday party doesn’t have to be a hassle; it can be a basket of fun, according to Beth Anaclerio, an Evaston mother of two, ages 4 and 18 months. (全國卷)

What does the underlined word “hassle” probably mean?

A. a party designed by specialists

B. a plan requiring careful thought

C. a situation causing difficulty or trouble

D. a demand made by guests

【分析】答案為C。通過上下句A child’s birthday party doesn’t have to be a hassle; it can be a basket of fun可以推知，hassle和a basket of fun表示近乎相反的意義。

3. 根據并列關系

表示并列關系的有and, or等。例如：

In the ancient city of Rome, we visited every mansion, battle site, theatre and other public halls.

【分析】因為mansion與“戰場遺址”“劇院”等表示場所的詞語并列，所以mansion應屬于場所一類的東西。

4. 根據比喻關系

表示比喻關系的詞語有as…as, like等。如：

The hot-air balloon took off. It was as buoyant in the air as a rose leaf in water.

【分析】根據“就像水中的玫瑰葉”這一比喻可知，buoyant的意思是“飄浮的”。

5. 根據對比關系

表示對比關系的有標志性詞語有unlike, not, while, on the other hand, in spite of, in contrast等。如：

He had been getting better, but during the night his condition deteriorated.

【分析】but 表明 deteriorate 與 get better意思相反，即表示“惡化”。

If you agree, say “Yes”; if you dissent, say “No”.

【分析】根據前后的對比關系，我們不難猜出dissent的意思與agree相反，即表示“不同意”。
